COUNSELLING
Anchor 1
My Approach
My approach to counselling is integrative, which means that the sessions may incorporate a range of interventions to meet your needs.
I believe that all individuals/couples can find the solutions to their situation if given the space and time. The relationship with a counsellor is of paramount importance and I am able to offer a safe and supportive environment which will enable you, either as an individual or a couple, to carry out the work required.
Core to my work is a fundamental belief that we are all capable of change and of overcoming the challenges that life can throw at us.
Experience
As a qualified counsellor (1994) I have provided therapy within the NHS, the voluntary sector, employee assistance programmes and in private practice.
I was accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 1999. This means that I work within their Ethical Framework and to their Standards of Conduct ensuring that I am appropriately trained and continue to develop professionally - which is of great importance to me.
I believe that, as human beings, we continue to grow and change throughout our lifetime. Therefore, since my qualification, I have gained additional training and experience in Addictions, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma, Abuse, Systems Thinking and Couples Therapy.
